Yeah, but for some reason, my phone doesn't have the app in the store, so I can't use it.

3. Can we find you on Pinterest? What's your Pinterest address, and what can we expect to see you pinning most? (recipes, DIY projects, home decor, etc.)
Absolutely! You can find me here. I post recipes, DIY stuff, school, animals, quotes...anything that appeals to me.

4. What are your favorite blog link-ups to participate in? (weekly link-ups other bloggers have...any number will do...please link us to them!)
Well, I used to do the Fill-in-the-Blank Friday one, but that is no more. This is the first one in a while that I have participated in.

5. Why do you blog?
I blog because I love writing, and so I can share my story with others.

6. Tell us one random fact about yourself.
I want to be an author someday, and blogging has helped with the process.

Wanting to Be a Published Author

For a few years now, I have been wanting to write a book, and have it published. While shopping at a thrift shop yesterday, I found an interesting book called Writer's Market Guide to Getting Published. It has tips for aspiring authors on how to get published, and how to get known.

I am more into fiction than any other genre of writing, so that is what I plan on writing, although I might put in a little nonfiction stuff in as well.

I've had some dreams that I want to turn into books as well, so I can use that kind of inspiration for any books I would want to write.

I am normaly a shy person, so writing is one of the best ways for me to express myself. Which is why I have this blog. Plus, I can be creative, which I love.

One thing I don't like, though, is the public speaking part of writing. I do want to get over my shyness and fear of public speaking, and soon. I don't like being so shy. I don't plan on overcoming it completely, though, because I do like being kind of shy.

We'll see what happens with that, though. I know it's going to take some time to work on.

Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

Class Has Started

Today was the first day of class, and it went well. There were probably about 25 other students in the class, and the teacher was very lively and talkative, and nice.

I think I may enjoy this class (Nutrition), and I hope I do well in it. This is the only class I have this semester, which is nice. I didn't want to have a class overload, and be stressed out with too much work.

I do not have any homework yet, so I don't have to worry too much about getting things done. Yet.

I am looking forward to the upcoming weeks, and seeing how the class turns out.

For the fall semester, I might take two classes, and see how I handle it, but, since that won't be for a while, I have time to decide.

It feels good to be back at school, even though I haven't been to school in a couple years. I actually never really liked school all that much until I started college.

I guess that's a good thing in a way, though. I found something that I enjoy, and that I can really get into. Which means I am more willing to go to school, and more willing to do the homework that is given.

I can't wait to really get going again with this degree. It is something I really enjoy doing, and hopefully I'll finish within the next couple years.

Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

Happy International Day of Acceptance!!

Today is International Day of Acceptance day. That means accepting a person with a disability as a person, not a disability.

Do not judge someone by the way they look, talk, walk, or act. They are a human being, just like everone else. All they want is to be loved and accepted.

I would like to thank the late Annie Hopkins for creating this day, so others can be more aware, and more educated about people with disabilities, and for her brother Stevie, for continuing this.

If you meet someone with a disability, be nice to them. Become friends with them. You might miss out on a really great friendship if you are mean to someone with a disability, or if you ignore them.

If there is just one nice thing you can do in your lifetime, please be nice to a person with a disability. They just want the same things everyone else does. Being nice to them greatly helps in their self-esteem, confidence, and overall outlook in everything they do.

There are a couple blogs I love reading, and you can check them out here: Junior's Amazing Journey and My Beautiful Life. Enjoy!

So, happy International Day of Acceptance!!

International Day of Acceptance

This Sunday, January 20th is the fourth annual International Day of Acceptance. That is where you show support for people with disabilities, and communities of people with disabilities.

I have a learning disability, so I love events like this. Many, many people are showing their love and support, and it is amazing.

If you would like more information about this event, here is the Facebook event page, the 3E Love Facebook page, and the International Day of Acceptance movement page.

Please do NOT judge people with disabilities. You will not catch anything from them, and they will not hurt you.

All they want is to be loved and accepted. They are human beings, and deserve to be treated like humans.

Show your support for this movement by wearing 3E gear, temporary tattoos, or however else you can show support. And please tell/invite your friends and family to this.

So, happy International Day of Acceptance everyone!!

Social Sunday

1. What is the name of your blog and how long have you been blogging?
The name of my blog is My Own Little Corner of the World. I have been blogging since 2009. Writing/blogging is one of my biggest passions. I am a very shy person, and writing is one of the best ways for me to express myself. I can create something that is uniquely my own, and something I can feel good about, without worrying about what other's think.

2. Why do you blog?
I blog because it lets me express myself in a way that allows me to be myself. I don't always speak with my voice, but blogging lets me use my voice in a way that is comfortable for me.

3. What is your favorite post that you wrote in 2012?
My favorite 2012 post is this one: Angels of God. I wrote this poem after I found out about the Sandy Hook school shooting. It was a senseless act, which should never have happened.

4. What are your blogging goals for 2013?
My goals are to write about things that are important to me, and to express my feelings and thoughts more often, without worrying about negative comments and thoughts.

5.What is the first blog you ever followed?
I honestly don't remember the first blog I ever followed. I have been blogging for so long, that it's hard to remember.

6. What are your top 3 favorite blogs to follow?
My top three blogs are these:

 71 Toes
 Alice's Bucket List
 The Kings

I know this one said top three, but I wanted to add this one too, because I love it: Junior's Amazing Journey.

I hope everyone had a wondeful weekend, and have a wonderful week to come!!

Helping Other People

Shawni, from the blog 71 Toes (http://www.71toes.com/), wrote today about an organization called Make Change (http://makechangetoday.org/), where you buy bracelets, and the money from these bracelets help people in India affected by leprosy.

The two people behind this organization are a mother and her daughter, who is in seventh grade. I think that it is amazing that a girl this young is wanting to make a change.

It is so nice to see that there are still people out there who cares for others. It means that there is still hope, love, and caring in the world.

I hope to buy a bracelet or two, as soon as I can. Seeing people wanting to "make change" inspires me to want to make change as well.

You can also find Make Change on Facebook, and on blogger at http://www.makechangetoday.blogspot.com/.

It would be really nice if everyone could do something, even something small, to help others, then there wouldn't be as much hate and violence in the world.

Well, that's all for now. More to come later. What will you do to make change?

Wanting to Drive

For a long time, I have been wanting to drive. But, while she was alive, my mom didn't. She didn't want to have to deal with insurance with me. Of course, I was NOT happy about that.

I took driver's education in high school (I failed the first time so I had to take it a second time. I passed the second time, with a B), and was nervous about it at first, since I never drove before.

I got my permit again a couple years ago, while my mom was in the hospital, but I only used it once. After my mom died, I wasn't that interested in driving, for obvious reasons.

But now, I am interested again, and my dad is willing to let me get my license. Which I am very happy about. I want to start driving again, although I am nervous about the DMV's driving test.

It's been a while since I last drove, so I'm a little rusty. But, I'm willing to go through all this, to get my license.

I really want to be more independent with this, so I don't have to rely on others all the time. I got a cell phone a little over a year ago (probably a year and a half ago), which helped me become more independent, and getting this license will help even more.

Until I can get my permit, and then license, I will be looking for a job, which I sorely need. I feel bad for not working, even though I know the economy is bad. It's hard to get hired these days, but I really want to work.

Hopefully I can get something real soon. At this point, I am willing to get pretty much anything. We'll see what happens, though.

Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

One Word

I've seen posts on other blogs about people having "one word" for the year, and figured I would start doing it as well.

My "one word" for 2013 is Healthier. I am in fairly good shape, but I definitely need to be healthier. I'm not a health-nut or exercise-freak, so this will be hard for me.

At my doctor's annual physical today, he told me that I was healthy, which surprised me, since I don't exercise that much, I have trouble sleeping, and I don't always eat right.

But, it's good news nontheless. Although, I do have room for improvement. I am not looking to lose weight or anything, I just need to get in better shape.

I hate running, so that is out of the question. I will walk, do yoga, and have been thinking about doing Zumba.

I don't feel comfortable exercising around other people, but I do know that there are Zumba video games, and I am planning on getting one soon.

Hopefully, some friends can help me along the way, with encouragement, and exercising along with me.

It's hard for me to stick with things for a long period of time, so I don't know how this will work out. I am really hoping I can do this, though.

Does anyone have any tips/ideas on how to stick with exercising regularly, and eating healthier/better? Any tips would be appreciated.

Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

The Great Kindness Challenge

Last night, I found out about something called The Great Kindness Challenge. What happens is on one day, people from around the world do as many acts of kindness as possible from a checklist provided on the website.

Here is the address for this challenge, if you would like to check it out: http://www.greatkindnesschallenge.org/event.html . This is an awesome thing to do, and I hope to participate in the challenge when it happens.

If only there were more people like this in the world. It's amazing what a little kindness does in someone's life.

Well, that's all for now. More to come soon.

I Have School Spirit

I start school at the end of this month, and I am really looking forward to it. Which is really saying something, since I never really liked school until now.

I am going to college for my Hospitality degree, focusing on baking. When I first started college, I was going for my special education degree, but I wasn't doing well in the classes, so I switched majors.

I did really well in the classes I took for my Hospitality degree (straight A's), and I am really happy now.

I still want to go for a special education degree, though. Although, I may opt for teacher's aide instead of teacher. I may do that in the fall or next spring.

I can't believe I am actually looking forward to school, but I guess that's because I found something that I really enjoy doing. I can't wait to start!!!

Well, that's all for now. More to come later. Have a wonderful new year!!
