Finding Vivian Maier

Yesterday, I went with a group of other women. through a Meetup group, to go see Finding Vivian Maier in theaters.

I am major photography nut, so this was a perfect thing to see.

Finding Vivian Maier is about a woman, Vivian Maier, who worked as a nanny, and secretly took over 100,000 photos of everyday life.

Most of her photos were never printed until after her death in 2009. A man had found her film in an auction sale, and decided to make that a project of his.

It was very interesting to hear about Vivian Maier. A man I volunteer with had told me about this film a while ago, but I couldn't remember what the title of the movie was.

When I saw this event on Meetup, I knew I just had to go to it. And I was very happy I did.

Meetup #6: Journaling Session: Healing and Resolution

I went to my sixth Meetup event this month, at the local library.

It was a writing/journaling event, where we would write about things that happened in our past, and how we felt then/how we feel now.

There were two other people there, besides me, the host and one other participant (both women as well). It went well, and I enjoyed it.

We talked about our fears, bad things that happened in our lives, and failures that we've gone through, and how we dealt with it.

It was nice talking about these things, as I've had a few rough patches in the last few years, and wanted to talk about it. This journaling meetup event was the perfect thing for me. I love writing, so being able to write about what I've gone through, and what I was feeling was perfect. It was a wonderful experience for me.

Meetup #4: Lunch at Delia's Kitchen

Today was Meetup #4 for me: brunch at a local restaurant called Delia's Kitchen.

I had never been there before, so I figured I would check it out by going to this Meetup.

Seven other women went to this brunch meetup, and they were all very nice, although much more talkative than I was. But, I enjoyed myself nontheless.

I had Belgian waffles and bacon, and it was very good! I will definitely be going here again.

I am so glad I went, as I have been wanting to go to Delia's Kitchen for ages. I live only a few blocks away, yet I've never been. This meetup event was a very good excuse for me to get out, and to go here.

The next Meetup event I plan on going to is Giving Artfully Charity Crafting Night on May 7th. I enjoyed the craft night last time, and look forward to the next one.

Meetup #3: Making Hats for Preemies and Pillowcases for Cancer Patients

Today was the third Meetup event I went to. It was a charity craft event, where we made hats for preemies, and pillowcases for cancer patients.

I hadn't done any knitting or crocheting in a while, so this was a perfect excuse for me to start up again.

The women there were very nice, although I think I was the youngest one there. But, I had a good time.

I crocheted a hat, and it came out pretty good, although I made a minor mistake during the process. Here is a picture of the finished product:

Purple is my favorite color, so that's why the hat is purple. It looks pretty good, seeing as this is only the second thing I've crocheted.

All in all, today was a good day, and I am so happy that I was able to make something for someone in need.

Meetup Event #2: Seeing Divergent in Theaters

Today, I went to my second Meetup event ever, seeing Divergent in theaters. This is the second Meetup event I went to in five days.

Although the others who went to this Meetup and I didn't find each other before the movie, I really enjoyed it.

Here is a description of what the movie is about:

DIVERGENT is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy by a faction leader (Kate Winslet) to destroy all Divergents, Tris must learn to trust in the mysterious Four (Theo James) and together they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late. Based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.

After the movie ended, I went to Caribou Coffee and got a hot chocolate. It was a bit chilly out, so I needed something warm on the way home.

All in all, today was a good day.

My First "Meetup"

After being on Meetup for ages, but not actually going to anything, I finally went to my first ever Meetup event, lunch at a local restaurant called Munch.

I had the kale salad and Italian lentil soup, and a cookie dough shake. It was all really good, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others!!

I am so glad I was able to go to this Meetup event, because I have wanted to go to Munch for ages. The others who went to this were really nice, and I had a good time.

So, if you're going to be in the area, and would like somewhere to eat, give Munch a try. It's a small place, but it's a great place to eat at.
