I Still Want to Be a Special Education Teacher

Even though I didn't do well in classes while I was going for my special education degree, and had to switch majors, I still want to be a special education teacher.

Part of the reason is that I have a learning disability myself, and have some idea what it's like to be in the special education program, and some idea what those students go through.

Another part is because I have several friends who have disabilities, both physical and non-physical. They have inspired me to want to be a special education teacher.

Also, I love children, and this is probably the best way for me to help them.

Although, I am a very shy person, and do NOT like speaking in front of a group of people. And, I didn't really do in school, until I got to college. And I didn't really like school because of this.

But, I still want to try again for my special education degree. I also tend to check out teaching ideas on Pinterest, for if I do become a teacher. There are a lot of great teaching ideas on there, which makes me want to be a teacher even more.

I also plan on going for my teacher's aide degree as well. So, even if I don't become the main teacher in a classroom, I'll still be able to help out in the classroom, as an assistant.

I just hope that I can do better this time in my classes, than last time. I seriously want to get a degree in this field. And that I will have a lot of support in this dream.

Although, this won't happen for a while, as I want to concentrate on finishing my baking/pastry degree, before starting another one.

Finally Taken the Food Sanitation Exam

Well, I was finally able to take the Food Sanitation and Safety exam on Thursday. After about two months of waiting to hear when it would be available.

I took the Sanitation class in the fall, and at the end of the semester, the state, who administers the exams (the test is for a license), suddenly decided to change the exam, so we didn't get to take it when we wer SUPPOSED TO.

We were all very uspet and frustrated by that. We didn't know when we were allowed to take the test, or how long it would take for them to make up a new test.

But, at least we still had an opportunity to take the test, and I am glad I was able to take it.

A guy in my baking class this semester was also in my Sanitation class last semester, and he told me that the test was coming up, so I am very glad I was able to hear about it in time to be able to take it.

The teacher who proctored the class told us that it will take about ten business days for us to find out how we did. I hope I did well. The test didn't seem too hard, but some of the questions were tricky for me.

But, I'm glad it's over now, and that I can relax. Wish me luck on my grade for this test (which is for a Sanitation license)!!

School Starts Tomorrow

I can't believe school starts tomorrow. I kind of wish I had more time to prepare for school, but I guess I need to start sometime. Plus, the class I'm taking is only once a week, so it won't be as stressful on me as other classes could be. I just hope I don't have panic attacks during class, since it's a 4 1/2 hour class. I've been dealing with depression/anxiety/panic attacks for a few years now, and last semester, I had problems with panic attacks.
Though, even with the emotional stress, I still did well last semester. I got straight A's, which, of course, I was happy about. Though, I was kind of surprised. I didn't expect straight A's. But I'm happy. I hope I do well in this coming class, as well.
I've been looking for a job to have on the days I'm off, as well. I really hope I get a job soon. I really need the money. And something to do. Right now, the closer to home the job is, the better, since I don't have a license and a car yet. When I have the money, I'm going to get a license, so I don't have to be so dependent on others.
Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

Goings On

I have started applying for jobs for the fall, and possibly spring. I have applied to about 10 different places, and still looking at others. I really hope I get a job soon, as I really need the money. Please, hire me!!!! Right now I am looking at a 2 mile radius, but I will look further than that if I need to.
I can't believe school starts soon. I start school on September 10. Most of the other students started on Monday. I am kind of glad I didn't start then. I need time to get ready, physically and emotionally. I am taking one class, once a week. It is called Chocolate. I think it is a class where we work with chocolate, and learn about all the ways we can work with it.
I am really looking forward to the class. Seems like it will be fun. The thing I am not looking forward to, howerver, is the length of the class. It is 4 1/2 hours long, which I really don't like. But, as it is a class about one of my favorite foods, I will live.
Well, that is all for now. More to come later.

My World

Not too much has happened lately. School is almost over (about a week or two until finals, and then summer break). I am so happy school is almost over, since I've been pretty stressed out recently.
Next semester, I am planning on taking a chocolate class, which is part of my degree (I plan on becoming a pastry chef in the hospitality industry). It seems like a fun class, although, it's 4 hours long. I can probably handle that, since the class is only one day a week (Friday).
Though, it's not paid for yet, so I have to wait for the bill to come. I can't wait to start the class. Seems like a fun and interesting class to take.
This coming May is my nephew's 5th birthday. There's no plans yet for a party, but we'll find out soon. I can't believe he's almost 5. It seems like yesterday that he was a baby. Time goes by fast.
Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

Weekend Report

It is finally the weekend. I had Success in College this morning, which went well. I finished all the journal entries today, so I don't have any homework for this class. I got home around 11:30 this morning, so I have all of the afternoon off.
I have a couple assignments for my Hospitality class that I need to do. First, I have to read chapter 5. Then, I have to fill out this sheet, that describes events that have happened in my life. It's a good thing my Hospitality homework isn't due until Wednesday. I need more than one day to work on some homework.
Tonight, I might put a movie on for me to watch. And then I will probably take a nap. I need one.
Yesterday and today have been pretty warm, considering it's February. We got up to about 40 degrees both yesterday and today. That melted a lot of the snow, which I am happy about. I don't like winter much.
Right now, I'm watching the women's curling game (USA vs. Russia). So far, USA leads 3 to 1. Go USA!!!
As far as I know, I don't have any plans for Saturday and Sunday. Just relaxing. But I'll play it by ear, as far as plans go.
Yesterday, I got a recommendation from one of my high school teachers, for the Disability Summit. Now, I'm just waiting for the second recommendation. I also have to type up the answers to 4 essay questions. I'll probably do that this coming week.
I really hope I get to go to the summit this year. I went last year, and I had so much fun.
I also hope I get to go to TLC Camp this year, as a photographer. That was also a lot of fun. I can't wait until this summer.
Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

First Day of School Tomorrow

Tomorrow is my first day of school. It's been a couple years since I was last in school, so this will feel weird for me, going back. So I am kind of nervous about this. But I am also excited, as I am going for something I love to do, which is baking. I can't wait to start.
I have 2 classes tomorrow, Success in College from 10 to 10:50 am, and Intro to Hospitality from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm. Kind of a long day for me, so I hope I can handle it. Friday, I only have one class, Success in College, so that will be an easy day.
After this week, I have classes on Mondays (Success in College; another easy day), Wednesdays, and Fridays. A somewhat full week, but I think I can handle it, especially since I don't have to be in school a lot.
One of my brothers and I will be taunting each other now, now that I am going back to school. Whenever he has work and I am off, I will taunt him that I am off, and can relax for the day, and vice versa, for me with school and him having the day off. I know he's kidding when he does that, so it doesn't bother me.
I've had a few stressful things going on in my life, so I hope this doesn't add too much stress for me. This should hopefully be really good for me, going back to school. I know it will, since I am going for something that I love to do, which is baking. That is one of my passions.
I have a few other passions: children, so I would also like to be a special education teacher; photography; animals; and writing. I would like to incorporate all of these together, if possible. I can't decide which I would like to do more, since I love all of these equally. But I will of course take my time with it.
So, my life is starting to take a turn for the better now. I am so happy that it is. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for me. Hopefully, it will be more good than bad.
