Christmas eve we had Giordano's pizza (probably my favorite pizza ever!) and opened presents (my dad, brothers and I), and Christmas day we had an early dinner at a local Mexican restaurant with my sister and her family and opened some more presents. My Health and Fitness Goals
For quite a while, I have been neglecting my health, and I want to do better about taking care of it.
In this list, I am including goals for mental, physical, and spiritual health, and I feel that they are all inter-connected, and very important to my well-being.
So, without further ado, here are my health and fitness goals:
- Go for 30-minute walks at least 3x a week
- Get 8 hours of sleep every night
- Improve my posture
I slouch a lot, and have done so for years. I really do not like how it makes me feel and look, and I want to work on this. - Find a skincare routine that works for me, and keep up with it
- Find a hair care routine that works for me, and keep up with it
- No screens an hour before bed
- Figure out a good balance in the things that I eat
- Drink enough water every day
- Spend some time every day in nature
- Journal at least 2x a week
- Read my bible every day
Beginning January 1st, I have been doing a Read the Bible in a Year challenge, and have been doing well so far. I want to keep that up! - Pray every day
I am very bad at this, and very seldom pray. I want to do better with this. - Ride my bike 2-3x a week
- Listen to my favorite music at least an hour a day
- Go to bed by 11 pm each night
- Wake up by 9 am each morning
I am NOT a morning person at all--I am a huge night owl, so going to bed, and waking up at a decent hour every day is going to be very hard for me to do, at least at the start. - Eat a healthy breakfast every morning
- Have a self-care day/routine every week
- Talk to my friends on a more regular basis
- Learn how to cook better, and cook more meals for myself
- Complete some type of puzzle every day
(Sudoku, Mahjong, word search, jigsaw, etc.; I LOVE puzzles, and would love to incorporate it more into my everyday routine.) - Lose around 40 pounds, and gain more strength

My Week at Joni and Friends Family Retreat 2023: Days 5 and 6
Well, it's on to days 5 and 6, the last two days of camp.
On Thursday, we had our usual STM morning devotions and prayers, and breakfast afterwards.
After breakfast, we had an accessible worship, where those who wanted to, could come up on stage to sing along with the leaders. It's always a favorite of mine, watching the accessible worship.
After that, the other sweet shop people and I helped set up the sweet shop for the women's lunch that afternoon. When we were done with that, we were given the rest of the morning off, to relax.
I decided to sit in on morning programming again, with the high schoolers.
When I got there, they were putting aluminum foil on, to look like the armor of God, and then they made a keychain/bracelet/necklace with mini shoes, to represent walking in the truth.
Again, I was allowed to make my own shoe keychain, which I enjoyed making.
We then had lunch, and afternoon activities.
While manning the sweet shop, the person that was in charge kindly gave me the rest of the afternoon off, so I first went down to see the horses that the campers get to ride, and then sat on the beach for a while.
Once I got back to the main area where most of the others were, I saw one of the leaders on the lawn, with a kiddie pool filled with a bunch of those water bead things. I decided to hang out with her for a bit, while I decided what else I wanted to do.
While there, the behavior specialist came by, and I asked her if I would be allowed to do at least one of the activities that were available.
She said yes, and took me down to where the ropes course and the zip line were, and I decided to try the ropes course first, as I had never done one before.
So, I put the harness and helmet on and started climbing up to the first level (there were two levels, but I only wanted to do the first one).
I am very afraid of heights, so I actually started to get scared, and started shaking a bit. I started to slow down as I got closer to the platform, and when I looked down, I saw that two of the main leaders had come by to watch me, which I didn't mind.
I eventually gave up on the ropes course, because I got too scared, so I climbed back down. I do plan on trying again, though, the next time I'm at camp!
After sitting down for a few minutes to calm my nerves, I decided to go on the zipline. I went on it last year, so I knew I could do it again.
One of the leaders that came down to watch me, filmed me doing the zipline, which I'm glad she did! I love having these things to look back on.
After the afternoon activities were over, we had dinner, and then a talent show.
That lasted for about an hour and a half and is always fun to watch. After that, we had the sweet shop open, which I helped man with the others, and karaoke in another room.
Then came Friday, the last day of camp. I was NOT ready for it to be over!
We didn't have morning devotions, as it was the last day, but we had breakfast, a closing ceremony where the families and campers got to share their experiences, and then the families left. There was a final STM debrief after the families left, but I couldn't go, as one of the families offered to drive me home.
They overheard me telling one of the other STMs that I couldn't find a ride home, and kindly offered to take me home. Which I am so thankful for, as it was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders (I don't have my driver's license yet, and I do plan on getting it one of these days).
While I was waiting to go home, I decided to check out the gift shop that they had in the lodge (which is where I was staying while at camp). I bought a small blue and purple teddy bear, as well as a bracelet that says Grace on it.
I also purchased a few things from the bookstore that was in the sweetshop: a drawstring bag, a Joni and Friends keychain, a bracelet with this year's camp theme on it (Fearless), and one other thing I can't think of at the moment.
Overall, camp was amazing this year!! I hope I get to go again next year, as well. It is such a beautiful experience, that I am so thankful I took the chance to take.

My July Reading Bucket List (and June Recap)
Well, June was a bust for reading.
I didn't read ANYTHING that I was hoping to read. I think I just lost motivation and needed a break. I know it's a good thing to take a break from things sometimes, but I do feel bad for not having read anything in June. I love to read, as it helps me to cope with the goings-on in life.
I am ready to get back into reading, though, and enjoy it again.
My reading bucket list for July:
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
- The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
- Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard by Tom Felton
- The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

My Summer 2023 Goals and Bucket List
I can't believe it's nearly summer already. This year has just flown by so far!!
As I always do, I have decided to make a bucket list for the summer. I am one of those people who love to make lists, so this was a no brainer for me.
I prefer warm weather over cold, which means I am more willing to do things outside.
Although I am a major introvert and home body, I can only take so much of staying home, so the nicer it is outside, the more I want to do things outside.
Hopefully, this summer I can do more of the things I would like to do, and have a fun, relaxing summer.
Without further ado, here is what I would like to do this summer:
- Apply for a new job

My June Reading Bucket List (and May Recap)
Another month gone by, and another one has begun. Why do the days fly by so darn fast?!?
I ended up getting into a slump in May, and hardly read anything. I only read a few chapters of both Outlander, and of The DaVinci Code. Both are pretty good, from what I have read so far.
I am going to put a hold on reading the entirety of Outlander, because it is such a long book, but The DaVinci Code is going on the list for June.
I love to read, but I think I just needed a break from books, just because I felt myself not feeling up to it.
So, here is my reading bucket list for June:
- The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card
- The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman
- Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard by Tom Felton

My May Reading Bucket List (and April Recap)
My reading for April went pretty well. I completed reading Coraline by Neil Gaiman and Life Without Limits by Nick Vujicic, and have started reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
I was not expecting to finish reading Outlander in one month, which is fine with me. It is a LONG book, and will take me a while to finish.
Since it is over 600 pages, I will keep Outlander on my May reading list (and possibly June), until I can actually finish it.
Long books like this kind of scare me, but I am determined to read the entire book!
So, here is my reading bucket list for May:
- The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
- The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
- The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman

I Get to Go to Joni and Friends Family Retreat After All!!
I didn't think I was able to go to family retreat this year, for some personal reasons, but things have worked out in my favor, and I AM going!!!
I this will be my fourth year going, and fourth retreat. I went in 2019, 2021, and 2022. There were no retreats in 2020, of course, because of the pandemic, but I am glad they have happened since then.
This year's theme is FEARLESS, and the bible verse that goes with that is 1 Corinthians 16:13-14:
Be on guard, stand firm in the faith. Be courageous, be strong, and do everything with love.
Inspired by the theme, the volunteers are encouraged (it is not required, so people can do this only if they want to) to dress up in costumes related to the theme. I was told that some of the decorations that will be put up are of superheroes, so that is a possibility for what to wear for costumes.
I haven't decided yet whether or not I want to dress up, but if I do, I want to decide as soon as possible what I want to wear.
The retreat I am going to is in Michigan, right on the lake, and is from June 11 thru the 16 (volunteers come on the 11th, for training, and then the families/campers come on the 12th).
My favorite part of retreat is probably the talent show, where everyone who wants to, gets to show off their skills. It is always a fun time!
I think another favorite part of mine is that we get to send Happy Grams to the families, campers, and other volunteers. It always makes me smile when I get them!
I have made many friends at retreat, and it has brought me out of my shell a bit (I am a very shy, reserved person, so doing something like this is huge for me).
If you are interested in learning more about Joni and Friends, you can go HERE, as well as HERE to find out more about retreat. You will not regret it, if you go!!
The only thing I don't like about retreat, is having to leave!
Family retreat is where people with disabilities and their families go for a week of rest, fun, and a faith-centered renewal, where they don't have to worry about appointments, therapy, or many other things associated with disability.
They get to just be, have fun, and make new friends and memories to last a lifetime.
I can't wait to go!!!
Do you have any fun plans for the summer? As of right now, Family Retreat is the only definite plan I have for the summer. But, that's ok. That means I can make spontaneous plans the rest of the season!

My April 2023 Reading Bucket List (And March Recap)
Yet another month has gone by!
I did pretty good with my reading. I read 3 of the 5 books I wanted to in March: Angels and Demons by Dan Brown, The Art of Getting It Wrong: Finding Good in the Misadventures of Life by Stephen Miller, and A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.
I think my favorite book out of those three is The Art of Getting It Wrong. The author talks about how he got where he is now, all the lessons he learned in life, and how his faith helped him get through life.
I love watching his channel on YouTube, and enjoyed reading about how it all came about, as well as how he handled things that came his way.
I am very happy with how March went, reading wise! I am proud of how consistent I am, with sticking to reading every day. I enjoyed it when I was younger, and am enjoying it now.
Now, here is what I would like to read for the month of April:
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
- Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card
- The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
- Life Without Limits by Nick Vujicic
- Coraline by Neil Gaiman

My Top 10 Favorite Springtime Activities
- Gardening
Gardening is one of those activities that is slow, but shows rewards in the end. It helps me focus on the task at hand, instead of anything else that could be going on. It helps me relax, enjoy the moment, and nurture something beautiful. - Long walks
I haven't been doing much exercising, which I definitely need to change. Walking is probably one of my favorite forms of exercise, particularly when it is warm outside. - Spending some time out on the porch
If I want to go outside, but don't feel like going anywhere, hanging out on the porch is my favorite spot for relaxing. - Spending some time at a park
Parks definitely calm me down, especially when I am having a bad day, so I do try and spend some time at a park whenever possible. - Dyeing eggs for Easter
This is one thing I will never get tired of doing, nor do I think anyone is too old to dye eggs. - Spending time at the local library
Whenever I go to the library, I can usually find something new that I would enjoy, and something old that I have always loved, whether it's a book, a movie, or music. There are even some great activities and events that happen there, that interest me. You never know what you will find during each visit to the library, and that's what I love about it! - Bike riding
Bike riding is probably one of my top few favorite forms of exercise. I'm not into playing team sports (I do like to watch baseball and hockey, but I'm just not into playing sports), so anything that I can do by myself is great. - Going thrifting
Thrifting is probably my favorite form of shopping, as I don't know what I can expect to find each time I go to a thrift store. I usually don't have a mission of what I want to get in mind, which is probably not a good idea, as I might go overboard with purchases! But, I love finding things that would interest me, that I can give a second chance. - Going to the movies
I haven't been to the movies since the pandemic started, but before then, I would go to the movies often, mostly by myself. I don't mind going by myself, as I love watching movies, and going out to the theater helps me get out of the house for a while, and chases away cabin fever. - Making s'mores
I love s'mores, so I make these whenever I can. What's not to love about gooey chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers?!

My Spring 2023 Bucket List
So, in no particular order, here is my 2023 Spring bucket list:
- Play on a playground
- Plant flowers
- Plant veggies
- Fly a kite
- Dye my hair purple

My March 2023 Reading Bucket List (and February Recap)
How is it March already?! The days are going by so fast!!
February was good, for me, in terms of reading. I completely finished reading the Anne of Green Gables graphic novel, The Hobbit, and Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman.
I was surprised that I was able to read as much as I did, as it usually takes me some time to start something, and then to finish it, as well. But, I am happy with being able to finish 3 books in February.
Now, on to the books that I would like to read this month (in no particular order):
- The Art of Getting It Wrong: Finding Good in the Misadventures of Life by Stephen Miller
- Angels & Demons by Dan Brown (I already have read a few pages in this, but got caught up with reading Madly, Deeply, Anne of Green Gables, and The Hobbit, so this book is going on my March list.)
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
- A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
- Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card
I am so glad I decided to get back into reading physical books, especially now that I know I can focus more on what I am reading. I am enjoying it, and am looking forward to all the books I hope to read this year. I do still plan on listening to audiobooks, but I just wanted to include physical books as well.

Books I Want to Read in 2023
Over the last several years, I have really slacked when it comes to reading. I love books, and reading, but lately I just can't seem to really focus on reading a book for any length of time.
I am hoping to get back into reading, and figure out a way for me to get into books without losing my focus. Books are one of the things that I have truly enjoyed growing up, and that get me inspired to want to write a book of my own one day.
So, without further ado, here are the books that I would like to read this year:
- Dune by Frank Herbert
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
- Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman

My February 2023 To Be Read List
For several years now, I haven't done a lot of reading. It's pretty much been listening to audiobooks, and even then it wasn't that much.
For some reason, I have come to not being able to concentrate very long when trying to read a book myself, which is why I turned to audiobooks, but I want to try again with reading books myself.
I have been wanting to get back into reading more regularly for quite some time, and have been looking for book suggestions the last week or so. My go-to has been Goodreads, and have also found reviews for books on Facebook.
I have enough book recommendations to last me probably for the rest of the year (I'm not a fast reader, so these will last me for quite a while), maybe even into next year. Which is good, because there are a lot of books on my to-be-read list, and I want to do a lot of reading!
I am planning on having a list of five books to read each month. If I don't read any of the books for one month, I am going to add them to the list for the following month, until I can actually read them, and then I will add new books in their place, for the following month.
So, in no particular order, here are the books I would like to read in February:
- Anne of Green Gables: A Graphic Novel by Mariah Marsden
- Angels & Demons by Dan Brown
- The Hobbit, Or, There & Back Again by J.R.R. Tolkien
- A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
- Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman by Alan Rickman

Current Favorites
- BIC Wite-Out EZ Correct Tape
A few months ago, I was at Target, getting some things for junk journaling, and came across this form of White Out. I thought it was unusual, but decided to give it a try. It takes a little getting used to, but once I figured out how to use it, I am not going back to liquid White Out again. With the Correction Tape, you apply it where you need it to be, you don't have to wait for it to dry before writing on top of it, and it doesn't make a mess. Whoever thought of making White Out this way is a genius! - Junk journaling
I found out about junk journaling a few months ago, from a YouTuber I like to watch, and have been hooked ever since. It is so much fun deciding on how I want each page to look, and what I want to put in the journal. - Get Organized HQ Virtual
I found out about this conference in 2021, from one of my favorite bloggers. I decided to give it a try, and absolutely loved it! When I found out when the tickets for last year's conference were available, I immediately got mine, and looked forward to it. I learned a lot about organizing, and other topics, and hopefully I can implement some things into my life as soon as possible. I watched the videos that interested me most, and wrote notes that I can look back on when organizing my space. - Joni and Friends Planners
I love planners, so getting the Joni and Friends planner was a no-brainer for me. The artwork, which Joni painted herself, is absolutely beautiful, and it comes with a chronological Bible reading plan for the year, Bible verses, and more. This year's planner is sold out, but you can check out other items in the shop HERE.
- A website called Set It Down
Set It Down is a craft website, that have macrame kits for sale. I found out about them just before Christmas through an ad on Facebook and it seemed interesting. I bought a snowflake kit, and it was very easy to learn how to do. I have been wanting to learn how to do macrame, so this was a perfect way to start out in this craft. - Roll Break
Roll break is a snack that consists of a rolled hollow wafer, with cream inside. There are 4 different cream flavors: chocolate, hazelnut, strawberry, and espresso. I am not a fan of coffee, so I don't plan on trying the espresso flavor, but I have tried the others, and absolutely love them! I recently found out about this snack, when one of my brothers brought some home after work, and I am so glad he got some. - Sherpa Lined Blanket
One of the things I got for Christmas was a sherpa blanket, and I absolutely love it! It is warm, soft, and cozy, and I have been using it a lot this winter so far. I am so thankful that I got it, and will definitely be using it a lot in the future. - The newest tote bag from The Frey Life
I bought myself the newest tote bag from one of my YouTube channels, The Frey Life, and it is awesome! It is big, so I can fit a lot of stuff in it, which really helps. It is still available, in case you are interested in getting one yourself.
